Chapter 30

"I haven't seen you smile like that since before dad's accident," Troy commented so quietly I almost didn't hear it. I turned to meet his gaze, my eyes burning as I saw the intense emotion reflected in his own. We didn't say another word as we neared Evan's hospital room. I didn't even have to ask which exact one was hers - it wasn't that hard to pick it out. "I swear to God, if you don't get away from me I'll kill you!" I heard my sister scream. I tried my best to stifle my chuckle as we approached the room, but I failed. Entering the room, I saw her and her husband in a standoff with one another, Sebastian looking absolutely terrified as he stood near the door. "You would think that with two prior births she wouldn't get this way," he quietly mumbled to Troy and me. I burst out laughing before Evan quickly chucked a pillow at me and yelled for me to shut up. "Fucking get over here and rub my back!" Evan cried, her sight directed at Sebastian.
