The drive continued without more words until they reached Olivia’s house. The mansion looked warm, lights glowing from inside. Lily’s chest tightened again. She remembered her last visit years ago. Back then, she thought everything would get better. She thought time could fix things. She didn’t know how wrong she was. David parked the car. Before Lily could unbuckle, Danish already kicked his legs excitedly and opened his arms toward David. “Dad, carry me.” David lifted him easily. Danish wrapped his arms around David’s neck like he belonged there. Lily watched that, her fingers tightening around her bag strap for a moment. She shook off the feeling and got out. As they walked to the door, Danish looked between both of them. “Mum, dad is stronger than you,” he said proudly. “I know,” Lily replied. “He goes to the gym more.” David gave her a quick look. “Are you saying you don’t exercise?” “I don’t have time for that,” she said. Danish grinned. “Dad can carry both of us.” “No he can’t,”
