Chapter 1054 The Remaining One-Third Was Even More Dangerous
Vince stared at his phone which had been shattered into pieces. He had purchased that phone with his very first bonus and cherished it very much. His shock then turned into a burning rage as he glared fiercely at Otto, wishing to tear Otto to pieces. Unfortunately, nobody paid attention to him.
Xavia was seething with anger, staring darkly at the distraught Vince. "What should we do? Should we just kill those who are here?"
After a few seconds of contemplation, Otto said, "Even if Joseph knows, what can he do? His people are in the cells, those at the off-site training don't have any weapons. We have hostages, so he's powerless against us."
"You want to take that risk?"
"Why not?"
Xavia frowned. She had a look of disapproval as she caressed her protruding belly. "Why not seize the opportunity and eliminate them now? We can deal with one batch at a time."
When there were lives, there was hope. By killing these people, Joseph would suffer significant losses, and lose Vince, his most capable subordinate. All Xavia could think about now was revenge. She no longer harbored any hope that he would give her even a shred of love.
Otto glanced at her coldly and said, "Know your place, Xavia. You're just a part of Duskfall. You have no right to tell me what to do."
The stumped Xavia fell silent, but a voice kept telling her now was the perfect time to kill everyone here, or they might lose this opportunity. Her gaze roamed about, then landed on Vince. If she could not kill Joseph, taking out one of his trusted subordinates would at least serve to vent some of her frustrations.
Xavia understood that her actions were cruel, but she had no other choice. If it were not for Chloe, Joseph, and Noah exposing her, she would still be Kenneth's fiancee. She could not grasp why Chloe insisted on pulling her down, especially when she was no longer competing with Chloe for Joseph's affection.
Once the seed of hatred took root, it sprouted and grew. Xavia's animosity toward Chloe had grown so profound that she no longer wanted to spare anyone in their vicinity. And as this hatred erupted, it became challenging to contain.
When Otto was not paying attention to her, Xavia headed toward the weapons room to find a dagger and some sedatives. Once chaos ensued, she would end Vince's life.

Meanwhile, Joseph managed to lead Chloe past two-thirds of the secret passage. The risk factor of the last one-third doubled compared to the first two-thirds. Joseph peered ahead into the dark tunnel as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
Feeling his breath becoming labored, Chloe asked, "What's wrong? Aren't we almost out?"
"The path we'll be taking next is a nine-square grid. If you step on the wrong square, hidden blades within the walls will pierce you. And the thing about the grid is that the safe path was generated by a computer, so even I, as the designer, don't know which square is safe."
Chloe said anxiously, "What? That’s far too dangerous."
"Yeah," Joseph said, “It is."
"Should I not have come with you? Am I holding you back?"
"No, with you here, I feel a sense of responsibility. It compels me to complete the impossible. Without you, I might just take a reckless approach."
Touched by his words, Chloe tightly interlocked her fingers with his. "Have you figured out what to do?"
"Yes." Joseph pulled out a pen from his coat and began writing out calculations in his notebook. "The computer operates based on algorithms. I'll give it a try."
