Chapter 948 She Felt Nauseous Whenever She Saw a Chicken
Vince stretched out his hand to stop Otto. He said coldly, "Don’t even think about running. It'll be your turn to get beaten up next."
"Nonsense. This has nothing to do with me. I can't stop someone who's determined to die."
Except for freedom, Cyrus had given everything Frieda needed during her stay at Duskfall. The situation that led to today was entirely of her own making.
"Shut up! I'm going to beat the hell out of you now!"
"Get out!" Joseph shouted, his eyes bloodshot.
Vince stopped in his tracks and fell silent.
Chloe wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes. She led Jasper out of the room and left the room to Joseph. She knew that he needed some time alone right now.

The rain showed no sign of letting up. Chloe brought Jasper to the Sullivan manor, but he could not fall asleep until late at night. While he slept, he mumbled for his grandmother.
Chloe could not sleep. After tucking Jasper in and making sure he was comfortable, she quietly left. Water soaked her feet as she stood in the rain, staring into the distance as she lost herself in thought. After a while, she took out her phone and booked an appointment with a psychologist for three days from now.

After Frieda's funeral, Duskfall and the Whitmans entered a stalemate. Cyrus fell gravely ill and did not bother the Whitmans.
Otto officially took over Duskfall.
"I've suffered so much injustice. Duskfall must stand up for me. This is what Mr. Cyrus promised me before," Xavia said, leaning over Otto as her eyes filled with malice.
He pushed her away and sipped his coffee. "Don't play these games with me. I'm not interested in pregnant women."
"Do you think you can deny it?" Xavia snarled, "Do you have any idea how Noah mistreated me after the last time I cooperated with you?"
She had to spend a whole day washing off the stink! Now, every time she saw a chicken, she felt nauseous.
"Watch your words. It's not about cooperating. You are supposed to serve Duskfall. Besides, aren't you getting along well with Kenneth right now? Isn't it nice to be his queen in peace?"
Xavia took a deep breath. "Are you saying that Duskfall will let me go?"
Otto chuckled. "That’s impossible."
Kenneth would likely inherit the throne, and then Duskfall would rise to greater heights. Why would they ever let her go?
"So, what do you want me to do now? Ophelia is driving me crazy, but I can't afford to offend her."
After the incident with Frieda, Otto had cut ties with Ophelia. Though she was naive, she knew she had been duped. She kept pestering Xavia for an explanation, and if not for the baby in her womb, Xavia had no doubt that Ophelia would make her life a living hell.
"Do whatever you want. I'm done playing with her," Otto said as he interlocked his hands behind his head, looking quite content.
Otto had no plans to bother with Ophelia any longer. He had only approached her on his father's orders. Now that his father no longer cared about what he did, he had no interest in continuing their association.
Xavia narrowed her eyes and gritted her teeth. "So you're not going to help me?"
