The chill had lifted, and the city had traded coats for spring wear. The roadside trees were sprouting fresh green buds—vibrant, full of life, a scene brimming with hope.
June brought the car show, and everyone was swamped with work.
Kathleen was like a spinning top, never stopping. Sometimes she worked straight through until 11:00 pm or 12:00 am.
Chelsey said she'd lost weight, her dark circles darker than a national treasure's.
But Kathleen actually enjoyed the exhaustion. Once she hit a certain level of tiredness, she could collapse onto her bed and fall asleep instantly.
Several nights, she didn't even bother to take a shower. Only when she was alone did she let herself get that careless.
Finally, a rare weekend off. She planned to sleep in until she naturally woke up.
