Chapter 275

Shaun's heart was practically bleeding. Now that the boss was out, he couldn't afford to keep an eye on Lily anymore. He charged alongside his teammates to tackle the boss. Shaun and Duncan were Glory players. Loid, on the other hand, was an Asterin. The higher a player's ranking, the tougher and more powerful the boss. They were having a hard time tackling the boss even after they had joined forces with the other team. Shaun shrugged in defeat when he saw that they were running out of time and the boss still had a 5% capacity. "I give up. I guess the boss takes this round." The clock was down to the last two seconds when Shaun said this. Suddenly, Lily pulled out the Blood Sword from her avatar's backpack and switched techniques. There was a bright light during which the boss dissipated, leaving behind a Folding War Fan. Shaun, Duncan, their teammates, and the other team's players all fell silent. They could not believe Lily was the mage who had struggled so hard during the jungle stage of the game. Right now, she was akin to a god. Shaun gave Lily a wide-eyed look. "Y-You told me you just got the hang of this game!" "I did just get the hang of it," Lily said as she maneuvered her avatar to pick up the Folding War Fan and stored it in her backpack. She then rose to her feet and poured herself a glass of water. "Then what was that back there?" Shaun swallowed. "How did you wield the Blood Sword?" "I was just clicking at random and found one in the backpack. I got curious and clicked on it," Lily explained nonchalantly, her lies seamless. Shaun was at a loss for words. With a few random clicks, Lily managed to unleash the Blood Sword and made the boss drop a Folding War Fan. Another player had scored the Folding War Fan previously, but no one had had such luck since. And yet, the boss this round dropped the coveted item after a few random clicks by Lily. Duncan was well-acquainted with Lily's maverick gaming style, so he was not at all surprised. The second round was launched soon after. This time, Lily chose to play as a healer. Shaun heaved a sigh of relief. "Good choice. Just follow me and restore blood for me whenever necessary." Lily hummed and did not offer another response. Next to her, Loid and Daniel silently watched as she maneuvered her avatar through the game. Loid, in particular, was drumming his fingers against his thigh as he fell into deep thought. Shaun might have missed it, but Loid had seen the way Lily wielded the Blood Sword earlier. She certainly hadn't done it by clicking at random. She had opened the backpack and surveyed its contents since she entered the game. The Blood Sword was a rare item, so Loid had hidden it at the bottom of the backpack. He was an Asterin player with no less than 500 weapons in his backpack. Lily had taken a brief look at the contents and committed them to memory. While fighting the boss, she opened the backpack and dragged her finger to the bottom to select the Blood Sword. It had been a deliberate, calculated move. She managed to take down the boss in two seconds with her final maneuver, which was a combination of strikes boosted by the Blood Sword. Lily's fingers had moved so quickly that no one noticed her technique. As such, Shaun and the other gamers believed she had clicked on the Blood Sword by a fluke and pulled a powerful maneuver in the end. Loid reckoned not even the Titanium Force Squad could match Lily's gaming skills. He turned and stared at Lily's alabaster cheek, an odd look flashing in his eyes.
