Chapter 277
Daniel was also at a loss.
The world had gone mad. Completely, utterly mad.
This was the first time Shaun and Daniel had seen anyone other than Lily boss Loid around. Even more miraculously, Loid did not get angry and instead obliged Michael's demands. The whole exchange was like a fever dream. Shaun and Daniel wondered if they were hallucinating.
Shaun was stunned for a few seconds before he turned his gaze to Lily. "Uh, I have stuff to do, so I'll take my leave now."
With that, he skedaddled. He had a feeling about what might happen next, and he didn't want to stick around for it.
Daniel was about to bolt too when Michael snapped at him, "What are you standing there for? Get my room ready!"
Daniel gaped at the old man and realized he had no choice but to do as he asked. He dared not dawdle any longer and bolted upstairs to ready the guest room.
There were many bedrooms upstairs, but the biggest of them all was the one and only master bedroom.
After a moment of thought, Daniel decided to put Michael up in Loid's room. He doubted Loid would have a problem with it, seeing as they were dealing with Lily's mentor.
While Daniel was straightening the upstairs bedroom, Loid was busy preparing a meal in the kitchen. Lily sat down next to Michael, expressionlessly peeling an orange for him.
Not long after, Loid emerged from the kitchen with a few dishes.
He had whipped up an impressive spread, including stew. He figured Michael's stomach might not agree with carbohydrates or solid foods at his age, so he made a nourishing stew for him.
Loid wore a bright smile on his handsome face as he handed a spoon to Michael, prompting, "Mr. Morris, have a sip and tell me what you think."
He was determined to take good care of Michael during his stay here. The old man had to be important if Lily had personally escorted him into the house and introduced him as her mentor.
Michael took a sip of the stew. His eyes lit up, but he quickly schooled his expression into neutrality as he drawled, "It's passable."
Loid heaved a breath of relief. He would settle for any praise from Michael.
Meanwhile, Lily was scrolling through her phone when she heard Michael's remark and gave him a look. She then withdrew her gaze nonchalantly.
She could tell Michael was impressed with Loid's cooking, but pride kept him from admitting it.
After the meal, Michael wiped the corners of his mouth. His flat tone belied his satisfaction as he said, "Don't think you can convince me to hand over my apprentice just by cooking me a meal, young man! You'll have to work harder if you want my blessings!"
Loid smiled. "Yes, Mr. Morris."
Michael eyed Loid once more and nodded. "You're rather handsome, at least by Lily's definition."
Lily's definition? Loid cast a thoughtful look at Lily as if to ask, "And what might that definition be, Reese?"
Lily raised a brow as if to answer, "I only like the pretty ones."
Loid gave her a withering look. He ought to thank his lucky stars that the Bloodbane poison had not affected his looks, or Lily would have become someone else's wife.
Michael harrumphed at the silent banter between Loid and Lily. "I've had enough. Take me to my room so that I can get some rest."
"Right away, Mr. Morris," Loid replied obediently.
