Chapter 1123
"Stop wasting your efforts," Pierette said, finally sitting up and examining Hesper's face thoroughly.
After sizing her up, Pierette hesitated for a moment before asking, "What's your relationship with Benjamin? Judging by your age, could he be your father?"
"You know Benjamin?"
Hesper's response inadvertently confirmed Pierette's speculation. She smiled and remarked, "I knew it. No wonder you were so aggressive."
She stood up and walked barefoot across the room, extinguishing the essential oil that had been burning.
In just a few minutes, the fragrance in the room dissipated almost entirely. As the scent disappeared, Hesper felt her emotions calming down. She felt a bit puzzled as she looked at Pierette.
"If I had known you were Benjamin's daughter, I wouldn't have said those things," Pierette said, squinting her eyes. "You probably don't know, but I once pursued your father."
The revelation left Hesper stunned.
If it were not for Ranfik using Benjamin's appearance to deceive her, she would not even have a clear image of what her father looked like.
"As for the hallucinogenic substance, it doesn't have much to do with me. If anything, I'm just a victim." Pierette leaned in closer, smiling playfully at Hesper. "But this substance is intricately linked to your mother. Is your mother not with you? She should be more familiar with Leafdelle Island than I am."
Never in Hesper's wildest imagination would she have thought that everything would lead back to her mother. Upon careful restrospection, it was true that nobody knew where her mother came from.
They only knew she was a victim that Benjamin brought back from the hallucinogenic drug incident.
Could it be that her mother was indeed related to Leafdelle Island?
From behind, Rickard reached out and held Hesper's hand, pulling her away from Pierette.
At that moment, Hesper forcefully dispelled the thoughts she had just had. Unknowingly, she had once again been led astray by Pierette.
With the essential oil extinguished, Hesper had subconsciously felt that her current thinking environment was safe, yet she found herself once more misled by Pierette's words.
Despite being prepared, she still fell under Pierette's spell.
Rickard was already aware of his mother's death long before, so he did not talk to Pierette. This detachment helped him maintain emotional stability and shielded him from her influence.
"This is boring," Pierette said, her expression becoming cold, as Rickard seemed to see through her intention. "Whether you believe what I say or not, I have little to do with the hallucinogenic drug. If anything, you could say I've just been fortunate."
"Where is my father?"
Pierette chuckled. "If even you don't know where Benjamin is, how would I know? He's your dad, not mine."
Hesper was momentarily silenced by Pierette's response. She decided not to argue about this matter with her, but she could not accept returning empty-handed. Turning her head, she looked at Rickard, hoping that he had some ideas.
