Chapter 32 You Can Be My Daddy

It was almost noon when Mark finished his work. Only then did he feel a little hungry. So, he picked up his car keys and went out to grab some food. When he opened the car door, he saw the mermaid toy lying in the back seat obediently. He smiled when he thought of the cute little girl. He had bought the present a few days ago, but he had yet to give it to her. However, how was he supposed to pass her the toy? There had been a few times when he wanted to go to the apartment and wait for the little girl. But his chances of meeting her were low, so he gave up. It had only been a fortuitous encounter, but he really liked her. Right after he got into his car, he spotted a small figure ahead. This time, she was wearing a white princess dress, and her hair was tied into a bun. Coupled with her chubby and lovely face, she looked just like a beautiful little princess. She was singing while scampering around the area. ‘No way, my wish came true. Isn’t that the cute little girl? Did she come here to look for her mommy again?’ “Little one…” Mark wound down the car window and honked his horn. “Huh, handsome mister?” Gretel was surprised as well when she saw Mark. She was there to find her mother, but she happened to bump into the handsome mister, whom she had previously met, again. It made the little girl, who was obsessed with looks, very happy. ‘Great, I didn’t come for nothing.’ “Handsome mister, you still remember me.” Gretel seemed pleased. “Of course!” Mark smiled. Gretel was delighted to hear Mark’s words. “Mister, where are you going?” Gretel asked as she blinked her big eyes. “I’m going out for lunch. Do you want to tag along?” “All right, for the sake of your handsome face, I will accept your invitation reluctantly.” The little girl pretended to be serious and nodded. Mark smiled. He felt fortunate to have a decent face, otherwise, she would have disliked him. He got out of the car and opened the car door for the little girl to get in. After Gretel entered the car, Mark extended his hand and took the mermaid toy in the back seat. Then, he handed it to her. “What is this?” Gretel asked. “A present. Why don’t you see if you like it?” Mark said softly. He was not sure whether the little girl liked it or not. Gretel wore a look of joy. Her eyes brightened once she unwrapped the present. It turned out to be a mermaid toy, which she had always dreamed of having. “Wow, Mister, how did you know that I like mermaids?” Gretel’s eyes were wide open because she was pleasantly surprised. “Uh, I guessed it!” Mark heaved a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the little girl really liked the toy. It made him feel that he had chosen the right person when he bought the present. “Mhm, you have a good eye for presents! Thank you, Mister.” Gretel grinned. Along the way, Gretel talked nonstop and made Mark laugh frequently. Soon, the car arrived at a French restaurant, and Mark led Gretel in. At first sight, it looked luxurious and romantic. However, Gretel seemed like a natural-born princess. She was poised and not anxious at all. From her sitting posture to the way she ordered, everything was accurate and elegant. It was as if she was used to such occasions. Mark, who was seated opposite Gretel, looked at the graceful girl. He had many doubts, but he did not voice them out. “Mister, why are you looking at me? Why aren’t you eating your food?” Gretel asked as she ate the dishes. “Well, I’m happy to see you eat,” Mark said in a charming manner. “Am I a feast for your eyes?” Gretel blinked mischievously. Mark chuckled. “You’re a mischievous child.” “Tee-hee…” Gretel giggled innocently. When Mark looked at the clean and clear eyes of the little girl who was in front of him, he seemed to see the clever and cunning woman again in an instant. “Mister, do you like me?” “Uh, yes!” Mark nodded. “I like you too! “In that case, do you want to be my daddy?” Gretel asked.
